Abstract:
This book is a literal milestone on Africaandrsquos information society trajectory. It measures the long distance between performance and potential of the continentandrsquos media in regard to bridging the digital divide. The striking findings and the cogent recommendations will be of value to donors, governments, ICT activists and journalists themselves. The study shows how Africaandrsquos information elite are afflicted by information-poverty when it comes to understanding and executing their role in communicating about ICTs. By documenting this, and suggesting solutions, ECA has made an important contribution to unleashing a strategic resource for the information age - i.e. Africaandrsquos mass communicators.
