The Somalia River Flow Archive provides stewardship for, and access to, records of over 30 individual years of daily and monthly river flow data, derived from over 10 historical River Gauging Stations. This hydrological data supports the sustainable exploitation and management of water resources and river systems in Somalia.
The data was derived from a network of gauging stations that was run principally by the Somalia Government before the break of civil war. There exists a huge gap of missing data since the break of the civil unrest. Four stations have however been reinstalled and are functional. The river levels are collected on a daily basis and transmitted to SWALIM via international NGOs.
The flow data held in SWALIM, is made available through a comprehensive retrieval service and may be used for national monitoring program and major research projects. Below are details of a range of SWALIMs activities and services.
