Working assumptions:
• Displaced population defined as direct displacement through flood inundation
• Displaced population calculated by multiplying the number of hh's by hh size of 6
• If a range is provided to quantify displacement the upper figure is used

Footnotes:
1. Population estimates by region/district, UNDP Somalia, August 1, 2005
2. Comprehensive reports indicated minimum displacement in Lower Shabelle in 2006
3. Kismayo district reported floods but no population displaced was given in 2006
4. 2006 estimates derived from field reports, flood projection model and UNOSAT imagery; see ochaonline.un.org/OchaLinkClick.aspx?link=ocha&docId=1123747
5. Table updated daily with cut-off point of new information at 4:00pm. Best estimattes are based on triangulation of all available field information
6. Floods with no displacement might be due to flooding on fallow land, crop lands, encircled houses, low flood water levels, etc. Contact floodinfo@fsnau.org for details
