The Somalia Climate Archive
The Somalia climate archive held within SWALIM contains data from as far back as 1894 (for Kismayo) and 1904 (in Mogadishu). SWALIM collected and put together all the available climate data since the turn of the twentieth century. During the period of civil war in the country (1991 - 1999), valuable data was lost and has not been traced since. The archive will continue to expand as more data is unveiled and collected.

SWALIM re-established the rainfall monitoring network, established a river level monitoring network and automatic weather stations in the country. 67 rainfall stations were re-installed and three automatic weather stations (AWS) installed in Borama, Garowe and Hargeisa. Four more are planned to be installed along the Juba and Shabelle Rivers.
